Dr. Samara graduated from high school in 1989, ranking among the best students in the West Bank with an excellent Tawjihi result for which he was granted a scholarship for studying medicine.
After acquiring his medical diploma with excellence in 1997, he did his internship at Almakased Hospital in Jerusalem. Afterwards he pursued his residency program in Amman during which he had a six-month-training in the United Kingdom. Dr. Samara finished his medical training in December 2002, being awarded the Jordanian Board as well as the Arab Board of Surgery. At the end of 2003 he also obtained the British Board of Surgery. For the following six years Dr. Samara was employed as a surgeon in different hospitals in Switzerland where he acquired the latest knowledge in surgical techniques and treatments and had a 4-year-experience of teaching medical students and residents. During that time he also obtained the Swiss Board of Surgery in 2005 and the Palestinian Board in 2007. At the end of 2009 he had the chance to gain further international work experience by receiving a 2-year-fellowship in cardiac surgery at one of the biggest German heart centers.
After 23 years of living abroad Dr. Samara returned to Palestine in 2012 where he was engaged as an assistant professor at the medical faculty of An-Najah University and University Hospital in Nablus. In November 2012 he obtained the European Board of Surgery which is considered one of the world’s most prestigious certificates of surgery. Apart from the numerous international certificates he has acquired so far, Dr. Samara regularly updates his surgical knowledge and practical skills in Europe’s most renowned medical centers by participating in several workshops and congresses of surgery each year. Dr. Samara speaks five languages fluently, enjoys travelling, swimming and professional photography.
